International Relations and Activities of Sudan

 

Telecommunications, by its very nature, is of multifarious and far-reaching global industry. The rules of national – international interworking, the unified assessment and setting forth of new technologies, and the sharing of the universal electromagnetic spectrum necessitate a global presence, collaboration and awareness. Sudan has an active presence in this arena. This is illustrated as follows:-

 

  1. Sudan is a State Member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), www.itu.int.
  2. Sudatel and Mobitel are registered ITU Sector Members.
  3. Sudan is a founding member of the Regional African Satellite Communication  (RASCOM) Organization. NTC is the Deputy Chairperson of Board of Directors of RASCOM.
  4. Sudan is among the founders of the  of the African Telecommunication Union (ATU), www.atu-aut.org. NTC is the Chairperson of the Administrative Council of ATU (2005/2006).
  5. Sudan is a member of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Organization www.comesa.int and its affiliates COMTEL and the Association of Regulators of Information and Communication for Eastern Africa (ARICEA).
  6. Sudan is among the founders of the Arab Satellite Communication Organization (ARABSAT) and member of the Board of Directors.
  7. Sudan is a member of the Permanent Arab Committee for Information & Communication Technology, League of Arab States.
  8. Sudan is a member of the Permanent Arab Committee for Postal Services, League of Arab States.
  9. Up to July 2005, Sudan was a member of the International Telecom Satellite  Corporation (ITESALAT) in USA.

 

International Participation:
