Quality of Service (QoS)

One of the mandatory obligations imposed by NTC on licensed service providers is to render to all beneficiaries services of high quality in conformance with international norms and standards. NTC, in turn, undertakes the burden of monitoring the abidance of all licensees by the said obligation and has adopted various means and mechanisms towards this end; such as:-

1.     The use of a station for monitoring the radio spectrum and its utilizations.

2.     The provision of mobile facilities to monitor the quality of services provided; mainly to monitor the quality of GSM cellular mobile services provided.

3.     The use of a software package to monitor the quality of Internet services.

4.     Binding all licensees to submit periodic performance reports including data proving their abidance by the approved quality of service norms and standards.

5.     Holding of periodic joint meetings with the licensed service providers to ascertain their adherence to the approved quality of service norms and standards.

6.     Imposing mandatory requirements on all licensed service providers to use NTC type-approved equipment, facilities and systems.

7.     Setting of effective mechanisms for receiving and dealing with customers’ complaints.

8.     Capacity building of NTC staff in the area of monitoring quality of service and the use of the available  monitoring facilities through regular training programmes.
