Types of Services

NTC regulates the overall performance of the ICT sector in order to avail the service to all segments of users and sectors of the society. The ICT services enables all the constituents of the society (social and economical, civil and gubernatorial) of benefiting from the outcome of the technology applications and from the access to information depots. NTC secures that access for all individual and corporate users. Within this context, the services rendered by the NTC are:

1.      Licensing and regulating the business of Public Telecommunication Networks operators (pivotal and infra-structure).

2.      Licensing and regulating the Telecommunication & Information Services business.

3.      Licensing and regulating the business of Private Telecommunication systems and applications for performance optimization.

4.      Licensing and regulating the business of additional and value-added services.

5.      Licensing/permitting new technologies such as GPS  Tracking systems.

6.      Managing the exploitation of the Radio Spectrum through specific licensing policy for different Radio Services.

7.      Regulating and licensing the Broadcasting and TV working frequency bands.

8.      International and regional co-ordination for Frequency Spectrum usage.

9.      Evaluation and assessment of Telecom services feasibility studies.

10.  Managing, organizing and supervising Universal Service.

11.  Enabling for the State projects for Information Society.

12.  Representing Sudan in International organizations and bodies in the related fields.

 

Types of services may also be classified into two major groups:

Firstly: Public Telecommunication Network Services including the following:-

A.     Fixed telecommunications

B.     Telecommunication via carrying networks

C.     Mobile telephone

D.     Paging service

E.      Fixed and mobile satellite services

F.      Data and Information transmission

G.     Public additional services

H.     Broadcasting stations

I.        Remote tracing, control, measurement and location determination

J.       Wireless telecommunication

K.    Any other services determined by the Board of Directors   

 

Secondly: Private Telecommunication Network Services including the following:-

A.     Fixed telecommunications

B.     Data transmission

C.     Wireless telecommunication

D.     Broadcasting stations

E.      Aeronautical  navigation

F.      Marine navigation

G.     Fixed and mobile satellite services

H.     Paging service

I.        Scientific research and experiments

J.       Rescue and warning

K.    Protection (including cameras, radars and detectors(

L.      Any other private network services determined by the Board of Directors
